EUROPEAN MARKET NEWS

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKETS

Riskier basic resource stocks led a bounce in European equities on Friday, having fallen in the previous session, as in-line China growth data prompted some to expect it to lead to further growth stimulus measures.

By 0701 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 was up 3.52 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,032.34, having shed 1 percent on Thursday, with the index managing to keep within its recent tight range between 1,030 and 1,050.

The main catalyst for Friday's rise came overnight as China met expectations of growth of 7.6 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier.

EUROPEAN MARKET NEWS

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKET

European shares fell on Thursday, taking their cue from Wall Street and Asia which saw poor overnight showings after the minutes to the U.S. Federal Reserve's June meeting dampened hopes for fresh risk-asset-boosting stimulus in the near term.
The FTSEurofirst 300 weakened 0.8 percent to 1,031.11 by 0703 GMT, having closed flat on Wednesday.
The Fed minutes showed the world's biggest economy would have to worsen further before the central bank eased monetary policy further. A few officials thought more stimulus was justified, but the majority were unconvinced.

European shares rose at the open on Tuesday, steadying after four session's of losses, as euro zone ministers ratified the bailout for beleaguered Spanish banks, but with global growth and broader European debt concerns capping upside.

EUROPEAN MARKET NEWS

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS- EUROPEAN MARKETS

European equities steadied at one week-lows on Monday, after three straight sessions of falls, as investors fretted about limping growth in two of the world's top economic power houses, China and the United States.
Chinese inflation fell more than expected in June, data showed on Monday, signalling that companies have been forced to slash prices in the face of shrinking demand, and following hot on the heels of a disappointingly weak U.S. jobs report on Friday.
FTSEurofirst 300 was flat at a one-week low of 1,033.43 points by 0703 GMT. The Euro STOXX 50 edged down 0.1 percent to 2,234.48 points, adding to a drop of 3.7 percent in the previous three sessions.

EUROPEAN MARKET NEWS

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS- EUROPEAN MARKET

The Euro STOXX 50 volatility index, Europe's main gauge of anxiety known as the VSTOXX, sank 10 percent to a one-week low of 25.25 on Friday, as investors' appetite for risky assets recovered following a deal at the EU summit.

European Union leaders agreed a plan to allow euro zone rescue funds to be used to stabilise debt markets and directly recapitalise banks, sending the euro zone's blue chip Euro STOXX 50 index up nearly 3 percent while Italian and Spanish government bond yields fell sharply.
The lower the volatility index, based on sell- and buy-options on the Euro STOXX 50 stocks, the higher investors' appetite for risky assets.

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKET

European shares extended the previous session's losses on Friday as recent poor macroeconomic data and a Moody's downgrade of 15 of the world's biggest banks lowered investor appetite for riskier assets, sending cyclicals like banks and miners lower.

At 0703 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares was down 0.9 percent at 999.76 points after falling 0.5 percent in the previous session on poor economic data from the United States, China and Europe.

EUROPEAN MARKET NEWS

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKET

European equities are likely to retreat from
one-month highs on Thursday, weighed down by weak manufacturing data from China
and tracking losses on Wall Street overnight after the U.S. Federal Reserve
stopped short of announcing a third round of quantitative easing.
The euro zone crisis remained very much in the spotlight, with Spain's
borrowing costs expected to hit a new euro era high at a debt auction on
Thursday, a few hours before it sheds light on the dire state of its weaker
banks and possibly makes a formal request for European Union funds to rescue
them.
Futures for Euro STOXX 50, for Germany's DAX, for France's
CAC and for Britain's FTSE were all down 0.5 to 0.6 percent.
The retreat is set to come after strong gains in the run up to the Fed
decision on Wednesday, when the FTSEurofirst 300 added 0.5 percent to
post its highest closing level in over a month.

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKET

European shares are set to surge on Monday as a
narrow election victory for Greece's pro-bailout parties over radical leftists
eased some immediate concerns about the debt-laden country leaving the euro
zone, with cyclical stocks like banks seen rising sharply.
Futures for Euro STOXX 50, Germany's DAX and France's CAC
rose 1.6-2.1 percent. Financial spreadbetters earlier predicted London's
FTSE to open as much as 1.2 percent higher, although the potential
longevity of the rally was already being questioned by some analysts.
Greek shares slumped 25 percent last month and the FTSEurofirst 300
index of top European shares fell 6.7 percent on worries an exit of
Greece from the currency bloc would destabilise markets, fuel contagion to Spain and Italy and hurt companies exposed to the region, especially banks.

GLOBAL MARKET NEWS - EUROPEAN MARKET

European stock index futures pointed to a slightly
higher open on Thursday, halting the previous session's sell-off, but gains
could be limited as concerns over Spain's ability to rescue its banking sector
continue to spook investors.
Data showing that German retail sales rose more than expected in April on a
monthly basis, up 0.6 percent in real terms, helped soothe worries about the
outlook for the euro zone economy, but may not be enough to eclipse mounting
concerns over Spain and Italy.
At 0622 GMT, futures for Euro STOXX 50, for Germany's DAX
and for France's CAC were up 0.2-0.4 percent.
The euro zone's blue chip Euro STOXX 50 index is on track to
post a monthly loss of 8.2 percent, its worst monthly performance since the
nosedive of last August, when it sank 13.8 percent.
